She engages with processes of transformation and reconstruction of actual, remembered and imagined actions, objects, and architectures. Since 1995 Eskdale has worked on an ongoing series of installations and residencies in relation to the domestic interior. Her works feature a systematic use of transference of surface and relations of space & form, through the trace of hand from one surface to another. This represents a formal mechanism or language that enables a reconstruction of material memory. Carolyn Eskdale exhibits nationally and Internationally. Her room works have been commissioned for major exhibitions including Claustrophobia IKON Gallery, Birmingham, UK, All This and Heaven Too Adelaide, the Biennale of Australian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia and On Reason and Emotion , the Biennale of Sydney, Art Gallery of NSW. The lectures will alternate between practitioners for whom the written form is their primary professional output and practitioners whose work manifests as exhibitions or events within the domain of contemporary art. —————————————————– SEASON 3 – SCHEDULE Spiros Panigirakis Thu Apr 27, 6:00pm – RMIT Design Hub Building 100, Cnr Victoria and Swanston Streets Carlton Daniel von Sturmer Thu May 4, 6:00pm – Bus Projects 25-31 Rokeby Street, Collingwood Paul Carter Thu May 11, 6:00pm – RMIT Design Hub Building 100, Cnr Victoria and Swanston Streets Carlton Bryce Ives Thu May 18, 6:00pm – RMIT Design Hub Building 100, Cnr Victoria and Swanston Streets Carlton Darren Sylvester Thu May 25, 6:00pm – RMIT Design Hub Building 100, Cnr Victoria and Swanston Streets Carlton Anthony Carew Sat Jun 3, 3:00pm – Neon Parc 15 Tinning St Brunswick Carolyn Eskdale Thu Jun 8, 6:00pm – RMIT Design Hub Building 100, Cnr Victoria and Swanston Streets Carlton Yhonnie Scarce Thu Jul 6, 6:00pm – Monash University Museum of Art Building F, Monash University, Caulfield Campus, 900 Dandenong Road, Caulfield East Ben Eltham Sat Jul 22, 3:00pm – Heide Museum of Modern Art 7 Templestowe Road, Bulleen Natasha Johns-Messenger Thu Jul 27, 6:00pm – RMIT Design Hub Building 100, Cnr Victoria and Swanston Streets Carlton Julien Leyre Thu Aug 3, 6:00pm Federation University Arts Academy The Old Law Courts, Camp Street Ballarat —————————————————- PUBLICATION In late 2017 WRITING & CONCEPTS will launch a hard copy publication about the 2016 W&C series developed with, and published by ART+ AUSTRALIA —————————————————- WRITING & CONCEPTS is supported by the RMIT Design Hub, The RMIT School of Architecture & Design through the SRC Funds, the RMIT School of Art, Spring 1883, and MvS Architects. —————————————————– http://writingandconcepts.com.au/index.php/2017-speaker-series/ http://facebook.com/WRITINGANDCONCEPTS/ http://designhub.rmit.edu.au/exhibitions-programs/writing-concepts-lecture-series-2017
